When you are selling your house there is one thing that San Diego sellers need to focus on more than any other—appealing to buyers. You want buyers to fall in love with your house and decide to make a quick offer on it.
With that in mind, here are 7 things that will work against San Diego sellers when trying to accomplish that goal:
-
Leaving your animals at home
We get it, you love your [insert animal here], but that doesn’t mean that buyers are going to feel the same way. When you are showing your house, San Diego sellers need to get your animals out of the house.
Animals have a distinct smell. You may not notice it if you are used to it, but buyers will notice it, especially if the animal is in the house.
You also don’t know what fears buyers have of animals. If you want to appeal to buyers, take your animals with you when you leave for a showing.
-
Hunting trophies
We aren’t talking about actual trophies – we are talking about animal mounts. There are some San Diego buyers that might love to see the head of the moose that you got, but you don’t know that those are the buyers that are going to coming through your house. There are some buyers that will be so offended by this that they won’t be able to pay attention to the rest of the house.
-
Flags
If your house has a beautiful area out front with an American flag, there is not a problem with that. The problem comes when there are decorative flags inside of the house. While a decoration like a Confederate flag might hold some meaning to you, it can be incredibly offensive to others. This is a sure way to make some buyers turn against you from the start.
-
Collections
Sports memorabilia, shot glasses, spoons, there are all kinds of collections that people have. It’s great to have a collection, but you don’t want to show it off when you are selling your house.
To some people it will just look like clutter and others might be turned off by whatever your collection is.
-
Any type of artwork with nudity
Nudity makes people uncomfortable as they walk through your house. Even art that is tasteful with nudity still isn’t something that San Diego sellers want to display when your house is on the market. It’s better to play this safe than sorry and lose a sale.
-
Locked rooms
Would you ever buy a San Diego house when there was a room that you weren’t able to see? Nor would other buyers. You need to make sure you have every room and part of your house accessible to the buyers.
-
Drugs
This seems like it should go without saying, but that’s not always the case. Marijuana may be legal in some areas and for some purposes, but it is still federally illegal. When you are selling, you want your house to look as classy as possible.
If you do use marijuana, put everything away before any buyers come to your house. You wouldn’t leave out piles of medication bottles so don’t do the same with your marijuana paraphernalia.
San Diego sellers will want to remember to keep it all about the buyers when you are selling your house. Leave your personal taste out of it and make your house appeal to buyers. The more neutral your house is, the more likely you will find the right buyer to make an offer.
